İzmir Metro Project is operated within the framework of the İzmir transportation master plan and designed as a high comfort system. 1st Phase project forming the backbone of this system Üçyol-Konak-Basmane-Halkapınar-Bornova Hospital line serves since 2000 with 10 ea. station in 11.2 km length.

In the framework of İzmir Light Rail System 2nd Phase project Bornova – Üçyol metro line continuation it is further extended 5.5 km with 5 ea. station from Üçyol to Fahrettin Altay Square.

İzmir Light Rail System 3rd Phase project has been extended about 2.2 km with 2 ea. station in the station in front of Ege University Hospital to Evka-3 in March 30th, 2012.

A total of 17 stations and a distance of 19 km were reached in İzmir Metro with the stations that were completed and put into operation.

4th Phase project planned to be put into operation at the end of 2021 will reach to 26 km by the construction of 7,2 km F.Altay – Narlıdere Kaymakamlık line.
